During my stay here in Hawaii the most common word used is aloha. I originally thought it just simply meant hello and goodbye but today I was enlightened on it’s true meaning.

The word alo means “presence”, “front”, “face”, or “share”; and ha, means “breath of life” or “essence of life.” So when you meet or farewell someone and say aloha you are really saying you share the same essence of life (spirit).

I found this so inspiring and yogic because we also in the yoga community greet and farewell someone with Namaste which also shares a similar meaning. Namaste means “I bow to you. The light within me honors the light within you.”

Very few people can say they truly love what they do and do what they love. The key is to find a passion in which you can dedicate your life’s energy towards. The typical person will work 97,464 hours in their lifetime from the age of 18-65 working an average of 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

We have all heard the saying do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. When you do pursue a career in which you enjoy you tend to work longer and harder and therefore improve your skill set and knowledge base, all whilst increasing your professionalism and specialization.

With this natural enthusiasm and desire to grow and develop your passion you tend to become better than your competitors resulting in being “The best in the business’. My dad always said to me growing up “It doesn’t matter what you do, do what you love even if you are the local lawn mover, but be the best in your field and you will never be short of work.”

For all those keen yogis and yoginis who love yoga just as much as me, you will also love Acro Yoga. Its soooooooooooooo much fun flying in the air, crashing down every now and again. I’m here in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand and have met a cool little yoga community that hang out in the park every Sunday to play Acro Yoga turning themselves upside down and inside out all afternoon. My arms and hips are a little sore but my spirit is still flying 😮 Who will fly with me when I get home to the Gold Coast?

“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words,
for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character”.

Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”There are three values in the very being and the life of an individual — the principle of thought the principle of speech and the principle of action. The real austerity is to bring about a physical, vocal and mental unity by letting actions, words and thoughts become one. A great soul is one who has been able to enjoy this harmony between the three principles of one’s being and life. To the contrary, if thoughts, words, and actions are in disarray, then an individual cannot be considered a person of perfection.

In the case of the majority of us (99.9%), however, generally what happens is that these three attributes are in disarray. That is to say, we do not say what we mean, we don’t do what we say, and our words and actions are not in sync with our thoughts. This mendacity is said to be the root cause of conflicts, tensions, wars and violence in the world. If our thoughts are not in unison with our words and deeds then the strength of our creativity is diminished. In contrast, if we can bring about unity and harmony in all these three attributes and have them accolade each other instead of oppose each other, they blend into a concord to put up a greater momentum, resulting in increased creativity and peace. Thus, bringing these three aspects — thoughts, sound and physical vibration — into unison is the ultimate goal that must be achieved by all of us here and now.
